Day 1: Jewish Heritage in the Old City
Start the day on the Mount of Olives, where the panoramic view of Jerusalem inspires reflection on the city’s eternal connection to Jewish life. Kids of all ages can also enjoy here a short Camel Ride, adding a light-hearted adventure to the morning. Nearby, visit the Tomb of the Prophets, a site tied to biblical figures, set above the vast Jewish cemetery of Mount of Olives. Next, cross the Kidron valley, and reach Mount Zion where you can visit King David Tomb Mark, revered in Jewish tradition.
Parking the car, continue by foot and enter the Jewish Quarter, with its lively streets, rebuilt synagogues, and layers of history. Pause at the Hurva Synagogue, beautifully restored as a symbol of continuity, and review the Burnt House, where a priestly mansion destroyed in 70 CE offers a vivid link to the past. End the day at the Western Wall, where prayers and traditions continue for generations, and consider joining a tour of the Western Wall Tunnels. This underground journey reveals the grandeur of the Temple Mount foundations.
