Day 6 – Bearing Witness: Gaza Envelope Tour
This tour focuses on the Hamas terror attack of October 7, 2023, exploring the places most affected and the stories of resilience. Begin at Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, where the historic memorial recalls the 1948 battle against Egyptian forces, and where the community also endured the Hamas assault on 7/10/23. Continue to Netiv Ha’asarah, where a memorial park honors twenty residents murdered on October 7. The site is marked by a colossal Israeli flag visible from Gaza, symbolizing remembrance and resilience of the local community. From there, reach the Kibbutz Be’eri viewpoint, overlooking one of the hardest-hit communities of that tragic day.
Proceed to the Nova Music Festival memorial, a moving tribute to the young lives lost during the attack. Stop at the Shuva Brothers rest station, where volunteers warmly host soldiers serving in the area, offering support and encouragement. Nearby, visit the powerful burnt cars display, silent witnesses to the devastation of October 7. End the tour in Sderot, a city shaped by years of rocket fire, concluding with a view into Gaza and reviewing current affairs.
