Scots Hotel
Located at the northern end of Tiberias, the Scots hotel is housed in a historic 19th century building which was originally a hospital. Founded by a Scottish doctor and minister, the hospital accepted patients of all races and religions, and later became a maternity home. In 1999 it was renovated and transformed into a luxury hotel. Setting a new benchmark of hospitality in Northern Israel, the Scots Hotel has 69 rooms and suites and an excellent bar and non-kosher restaurant. The hotel also offers great views of the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights.
Magdala Hotel
Set along the western shores of the Sea of Galilee, the Magdala hotel is adjacent to the ancient site of Magdala. Reputed as the hometown of Mary Magdalene, the hotel was developed by the Catholic church, and is part of their “Magdala project”. The hotel offers specious rooms with contemporary design, each with 2 queen beds. It serves a rich non-kosher breakfast and dinner, and has a swimming pool, open May to September. Next to the hotel is a first century synagogue discovered during the construction of the hotel, and the elegant “Duc in Altum” church.
