Christian-Themed Galilee 2-Day Private Tour

Living Faith

This two-day journey through the Galilee explores landscapes where biblical history and Christian tradition come alive. Your private guide will drive you through sacred landmarks and historical sites, weaving scripture, archaeology, and living tradition into a seamless experience. From ancient prophecy to Gospel stories, every site reveals the depth of faith that has shaped this region for millennia.

Day 1: From Prophecy to the Ministry of Jesus

Tour Megiddo

megiddoBegin with Megiddo, a site of immense archaeological and biblical significance. Once a strategic stronghold guarding ancient trade routes, Megiddo features monumental gates, stables, and a remarkable water system. Your guide will explain how the city became a stage for decisive battles that eventually inspired the biblical vision of Armageddon. Walking through its excavated layers, you will encounter nearly thirty successive civilizations built atop one another. From prophecy to history, Megiddo sets the stage for the Galilee’s historical and spiritual landscapes.

Explore Nazareth

Continue to Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus and the setting of the Annunciation. Visit the Church of the Annunciation, an awe-inspiring basilica built over the traditional site where the Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would bear the Christ. Nearby is Saint Joseph’s Church, recalling the carpenter’s workshop and the home of the Holy Family. Your guide will then lead you through Nazareth’s Old City, walking narrow alleys filled with historic charm, until reaching the Synagogue Church. This site is traditionally associated with Jesus’ first self-claim of his messianic role, yet was rejected in his own hometown. End with a pause at Mary’s Well, where local tradition remembers her drawing water.

Visit Cana

Cana wedding church 2Travel on to Cana, celebrated as the village of Jesus’ first miracle at a wedding feast. The modern church commemorates the event while the surrounding narrow streets retain a sense of village charm and local culture. Archaeological studies reveal evidence for the Jewish community that once thrived here, including large stone vessels, as mentioned in the Gospels.

Reach Magdala

Excavations revealed here a first-century synagogue, one of the oldest discovered in Galilee, where Jesus may have taught. The adjacent modern “Duc in Altum” church and spiritual center overlooks the water, blending scripture, history, and devotion. As the day closes, the site offers a serene connection to both Gospel stories and ongoing discoveries.

Day 2: Ministry Around the Sea of Galilee

Tour Capernaum

Begin the day at Capernaum, known as the “Town of Jesus,” where he preached, healed, and called his disciples. Walk among the remains of the ancient synagogue and the traditional house of Peter, where miracles and teachings keep transforming lives. Your guide will describe how this fishing village became a center of ministry, drawing crowds and changing hearts.

Ascend to the Mount of Beatitudes

Next, ascend the Mount of Beatitudes, the traditional site where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. The hillside gardens provide a peaceful setting for reflection, while sweeping views of the lake and surrounding hills enhance the experience. At the summit stands the remarkable octagonal Church of the Beatitudes, built to commemorate this pivotal teaching of humility, mercy, and faith. The combination of scenery, sacred architecture, and biblical history creates a deeply contemplative and inspiring visit.

Fish Restaurant Lunch and Optional Private Sail

sail on the sea of galileePause for lunch at a lakeside restaurant serving Saint Peter’s fish, a culinary tradition tied to the Galilee. After lunch, you may choose an optional private sail on a boat modeled after a 12th-seater wooden vessel discovered off the Sea of Galilee in 1986. The quiet waters, gentle breeze, and surrounding scenery offer a reflective experience that evokes the journeys of Jesus and his disciples.

See the Sea of Galilee Boat

This rare artifact provides insight into the types of boats used by fishermen and disciples during the first century. In fact, such a vessel may have been similar to the one Jesus sailed when he calmed the waters and crossed the lake. Observing the boat up close creates a tangible connection to daily life, ministry, and the miraculous events recorded in the Gospels.

Ascend Mount Tabor and Return

Church of transfiguration mount taborConclude the tour with Mount Tabor, the traditional site of the Transfiguration. Ascend its winding roads to reach the summit, crowned by the beautiful Catholic Church of the Transfiguration. From the mountain, views stretch across the Jezreel Valley, while your guide explains the significance of the event in which Jesus appeared in glory before his disciples. Standing here offers a profound closure to two days immersed in the sacred landscapes of the Galilee.
